Advice for the Next Generation of Women in Insurance:
-
“My advice is to find your voice. It is okay to speak up in meetings, etc. Your ideas are valuable and if not a solution, it could spark the conversation to find the right one. People don't know you know something if you don't let them know.”
Lisa Bourrell
Sr. Software Engineer (Co-Chair for Women in Tech Community of Interest)
29 years of tenure with Team Applied -
“Get a solid education in STEM subjects. Seek out mentorship from women and allies in the field who can provide guidance, encouragement, and opportunities for networking; join professional organizations that support women in tech. Lastly, become comfortable with failure and always stay curious as tech is a field that rapidly evolves, so continuous learning and resilience are key to success. Never say ‘I can’t’!”
Julie Wolfe

“I have so very much enjoyed my 37 years here at Applied. My advice would be to enjoy solving problems. Find other females to support you. Like what you do, and then you will do your best!”

“To succeed in the tech industry is not just about keeping up with the latest technology. It’s about embracing every opportunity to develop your soft skills and letting your curiosity guide you. Surround yourself with mentors and people who support and believe in you; these connections will sharpen your skills and inspire you on days when challenges seem overwhelming. Building a strong foundation means never being afraid to speak up, ask for help, and celebrate every small victory. Always believe in yourself and never let anyone or anything limit your dreams.”
